Zinashi has really been into squirrels lately. We've got a lot in our neighborhood at home, and after we saw an injured squirrel on one of our walks, she became borderline obsessed with what squirrels do and how they do it and why they do it. One night she left a bunch of stale almonds on the front porch. The squirrels must not go hungry! So naturally, when planning our vacation, we planned to feed the squirrels in London. Jarod and I found out about the friendly squirrels of St. James's Park on our last visit, and feeding them again with our squirrel-loving girl was at the top of my list of things to do. So we did.

We named this guy, who might actually be a girl, Mr. Nuts. I suggested several common British first names, but Zinashi rejected every single one. This squirrel was so into our fruit and nut offerings that we were even able to pet it. Premium vacation fun. I'm really not sure if we'll ever be able to top this.

  1. Loving squirrels you'll need to check out the book Scaredy Squirrel by Melanie Watt - about a squirrel with OCD - beautifully illustrated and so much fun - finding out all the things that Scaredy Squirrel is scared of and how he overcomes it! Great book for squirrel fans!

  2. yay squirrels! i am glad that Zinashi has realized that they are the best animal around, but i am super jealous of the squirrel petting. :)
