Introducing Our Tiniest Family Member

This afternoon, a judge in Addis Ababa declared us to be parents for the second time.  Shortly thereafter, we had Elvie in our arms, bouncing along the streets of Addis Ababa and back to the hotel as a family of four.  We couldn't be happier.

It is our pleasure to introduce Elroyi Aveline, who we love beyond measure.

  13. I was checking my phone periodically throughout the day to see if you had updated yet, and when I saw you had, I literally RAN to my computer to watch the video. (I don't typically run unless someone is chasing me, okay.) This did not disappoint. She is lovely, and I am so happy for all of you. Your writing and your mothering are so thoughtful. Thank you for sharing. Love to a sweet family!

  22. Wonderful! I can't wait to see how she grows into those big beautiful eyes! p.s. My little brother was born with severe limb differences and we spent 21 years working with various Shriners hospitals - they were wonderful, and their services were free of charge. It was a blessing.

  44. So glad to see the girls together! I'm thinking of all of you.

I started reading your blog when Mara, who's about the same age as Zinashi, joined our family as a foster placement in October 2010. This week we're adding another girl whose case may flow toward adoption and although she's older rather than younger like yours, I like that feeling that we're still on a similar timeline.

Just a side note, I too am a parent of a non-thriving little one. They fatten up quickly once you figure out what the issues are. =) Good luck!
