Three Unrelated Things

1.  I have fallen in love with a camera bag. My DSLR, mind you, was purchased in 2004 and has some significant issues, but I like to dream of the day that I'll be able to make room in the budget for a new one. So sometimes I still do a little camera bag window shopping, and today I determined that the Epiphanie Brooklyn Backpack in mustard is it, the bag of my dreams. Ephinanie has a ton of amazing camera bags that don't look like camera bags. So great.

2. I've had questions lately both in comments and in real life about where I get my kids' clothes. Elvie's are a mix of Baby Gap, H&M, Gymboree, and Target items that were altered by my amazing friend Nicole to suit Elvie's physical differences. She's got some Mini Boden that she's finally big enough for, so you'll start seeing some of that (thanks, Caitlin!). If I had my way (by which I mean "if I had lots more dollars than I currently have"), I would purchase most of Elvie's clothes from the Mini Boden catalog.

As for Zinashi's outfits, they're a mix of a ton of different brands, but I definitely have favorites. I love Old Navy pajamas; the pink skeleton shirt that more than one of you asked about is part of one of their pajama sets, and they are available around Halloween each year. For trousers, H&M has a style that has hearts on the knees and elastic cuffs, and they are just perfect for us. I can buy them a little big so she can wear them longer, but the cuffs keep them from dragging to the ground. For shirts, I simply adore the pointelle long sleeve shirts from Mini Boden; they are so soft, and Zinashi loves the colors and feminine touches. I know they're a bit pricey, but the quality is amazing, and in my opinion the price is justified (especially when that price is discounted by a 20% off plus free shipping offer). If I had it to do all over again, I would have just bought several pairs of the H&M trousers and a bunch of the pointelle shirts, then filled in gaps with a few cute dresses from the sales on Zulily (fave brands there are Jelly the Pug and Ava Loves Olli), plus good cotton tights from Gymboree. Zinashi now dresses herself nearly every day, and I like filling her drawers with things that mostly go together, then seeing what she does with them. This combo is one of my faves:

Wings, dress, and sandals from Gymboree, vest from Mini Boden, tights from Target.

And here's the aforementioned favorite pointelle shirt and H&M trousers.

Perfect for everyday wear, and cute to boot. That hairstyle is also my favorite.

3.  I have completed my fifth run of my official return to running. I'd like to say that I am well on my way to a half marathon, but the reality is that this may be all I can do for awhile. I am steadily building up my endurance, but time is definitely a factor, and I'm not sure I'll be able to devote more than half an hour a few times a week to this endeavor. When the baby starts sleeping through the night, I will revisit my goals. For now, the goal is to keep going. I am satisfied with that. Just this little bit feels like an amazing accomplishment. Feel free to send me a medal or trophy; I will wear or display either with pride.

  1. I love the looks of the clothing in Mini Boden catalog but have never ordered anything. You've convinced me to give it a try!

Keep up the good work with your running. Thirty minutes a few times a week will give you a good base for when you're ready to up your mileage. And, as you know, it'll do wonders for your well-being.

  2. I love seeing your girls' fashions all the time, but I can't wait to see the cutest little strawberry of all time! This was a nice treat as I work through my Google Reader after a crazy couple of weeks :)
