Today Elvie:
- graduated out of PICU
- got the IV line taken out of her right hand
- got her monitor leads taken off her chest
- pooped (which is a big deal post surgery, especially if intestinal repair was done, and it was)
- got some Pedialyte
- rejected the Pedialyte
- got some formula
- did okay with the formula
- got a roommmate
- got a fever
- got held, but it was too uncomfortable for her
- cried when I put her back in her crib because she really wanted me to hold her
All in all, it was a day full of progress, but I hate that she is so uncomfortable when I hold her, and I hat that we are sharing a hospital room. I don't think sharing a room is good for healing, and I don't think any kid should have to. I'm also quite uncomfortable with this as an introvert, but I'm not the one who had major surgery, so I'd really like to register my complaints on Elvie's behalf. Having a roommate stinks, even if they are nice.
So bah humbug to the hospital life, and also goodnight. I'll update you tomorrow night, but for now I need to go brush my teeth in a shared bathroom and tuck myself into my chair bed. Here's hoping tomorrow brings even more progress and also a private room. Wouldn't that be nice?
PS--Just as I was about to hit publish, the roommate's father started snoring. OH NOOOOOOOOO.

I'm so sorry that you can't hold her right now- that must be sohard for both of you. I hope that you bboth have a good night's sleep and roommate baby goes home tomorrow, taking Mr snorey with them. Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the room mate but so glad to hear she's out of picu and you've had a cuddle. Sending love your way x
ReplyDeleteOh wow. You guys have been through so much.
ReplyDeleteSharing a room does stink big time. I'm very surprised they still do that in today's age of medical privacy, etc. Big hopes for a shockingly better week to come.
Yeah for all the great things on that list! Sorry you can't snuggle comfortably yet and as a fellow introvert especially sorry about the roommate (and the snoring!). Sending healing thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine going through any of this...it's been a distinct pleasure reading your posts through discovering you through DB. I can tell you are an amazing mother and your little girls are so beautiful. So lucky. May little Elvie continue to heal in the way that we know she will and with it bring back her laughter. Baby laughs are the best thing ever. As is a mama's love. Sending you much love, thoughts and continued prayers your way from my heart and home to yours.
ReplyDeleteHope that Evie is more comfortable today and that the snorer got a pillow thrown at him last night!!
ReplyDeleteSorry that should of course say Elvie!
