Oh, Brownie. I was going to sit there. Guess I'll just...stand over here.
There are a lot of "normal" kid experiences that Zinashi is not privy to. I have tailored her childhood experiences to meet her needs and to allow for things that won't drive me more crazy than I already am. I'm fairly restrictive when it comes to keeping peace in our house and not encouraging bad habits by allowing her to consume what might teach her things I don't want her to learn. So we don't do battery toys, and I'm really selective with what movies and television shows she is allowed to watch, and I steer her away from certain areas of the toy section at Target. Sometimes I wonder if she will later feel that she was robbed of childhood experiences common to her peers, but then I remember that I let her take a gigantic stuffed dog with us everywhere and even let him sit in the seat I was hoping to occupy myself, and I think, "Well, maybe this will make up for it."
